Power Is One & A Matter of Motive
AI Will Never Have A Heart...But Do You?
Apologies for missing your inbox for the past 10 days. The power supply to the laptop and my house reduced electronic activity.
“I’m going to knock him down a peg or two!”
“He needs someone to knock him off his high horse.”
“I’ll learn him a lesson.”
How do you say another guy is full of himself and needs to learn how to behave differently for the good of others and himself? Of course, the words and clever local ways are part of the “How,” but the more important part…HOW do you mean those words?
Motives matter—and we can all see your motives more clearly than you think.
Jesus put it in an interesting agricultural setting when he noted that good fruit comes from a good tree and bad trees produce no fruit or nasty fruit. Our hearts produce our actions (and lack of action).
We need friends to help us examine our hearts—but they need to do it with a good heart.
When I share a shortcoming or challenge with a friend I need them to understand my struggle, my mind, my desires, and my soul beyond my actions. I need someone who will in all kindness deal with my pride by “knocking me down a few pegs” in a healthy way. I need him to hear the unsaid and help me reflect so that I bring out good fruit for myself, my family, my friends, and the world.
